Covid-19: information about Aviva's health insurance policy for customers

As people’s understanding of the importance of health and wellbeing has grown in recent years, including the importance of mental health and the link between mental and physical health, most insurers have expanded the range of benefits and services available within their private medical insurance (PMI) policies.

These services can include online GP consultations, mental health support services, access to phone or online counselling, remote support for musculoskeletal conditions and nurse-led helplines for the day-to-day management of ongoing medical conditions. With large numbers of people either working from home or confined to home, these services will be as important, or more important, than ever before.

Furthermore, some insurers are now introducing new benefits and services specifically designed to support their customers through the current pandemic. Services available from home

You are able to access valuable services and benefits (subject to your particular policy coverage) including:

Mental health support through the Aviva Mental Health Pathway and out-patient mental health treatment which can now be accessed via a virtual consultation capability.

Stress counselling helpline – if you’re stressed and want to talk to someone, experienced counsellors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (if you’re aged 16 or over).

NHS cash benefit – this existing benefit will be available for any customers hospitalised as a result of Covid-19, depending on their cover.

Aviva Digital GP – this app is currently available as a value-added service with Aviva private medical insurance. Employees can access around-the-clock GP consultations, an 'ask a question' feature, pharmacy services and repeat NHS prescriptions with free delivery in the UK, all at the touch of a button. Convenient, accessible and simple to use, Aviva Digital GP app effectively gives employees a GP in their pocket.

Dental and optical – Aviva health insurance already covers surgical dental procedures performed in a hospital. But with the dental and optical option, you’ll also be covered for routine dental treatment and optical expenses:

  • Up to £200 of optical cover
  • Up to £300 of routine dental treatment cover
  • Up to £600 of dental treatment cover following an accident

GP minor surgery – up to £100 per procedure.

Baby bonus – £100 paid per baby, to the policyholder.
