Group protection insurance

Group life insurance

For non-UK members Towergate Health & Protection administers the group life insurance scheme via Generali Worldwide.

This policy provides non-UK members with a death-in-service benefit, payable to your dependants in the unfortunate event of your death. The benefit amount is four times your basic annual salary and is usually paid tax free.

The benefit will remain in place until you reach state pension age, or you leave employment (whichever comes first).

Group critical illness (including total permanent disability)

For non-UK members Towergate Health & Protection also administers the group critical illness cover via Generali Worldwide. This policy also includes cover for total permanent disability.

The critical illness insurance policy does not cover illnesses that you already have when you join the policy. Full details are provided in the “pre-existing conditions” sections of the documentation.

The group critical illness policy provides a lump sum benefit in the event of a non-UK member being diagnosed with one of the insured conditions, subject to meeting the benefit eligibility criteria.

Please refer to the policy document and policy particulars to find more information about the conditions and criteria. The benefit amount is two times your basic annual salary and is paid tax-free directly to you.

The group total permanent disability policy provides a lump sum benefit in the event of a non-UK member suffering a permanent condition which is irreversible. It must have been diagnosed by a doctor.

Please refer to the policy document and policy particulars for the definitions of incapacity, permanent and irreversible condition. The benefit amount is four times your basic annual salary and is paid tax-free directly to you.

The critical illness benefit (including total permanent disability) will remain in place until you reach state pension age, or you leave employment (whichever comes first).
