Update on private medical insurance policies

After committing much of their resources to supporting the NHS through the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, private hospitals are now beginning to slowly resume the provision of routine surgery for private patients, whilst continuing to co-ordinate with the NHS at a local level regarding the provision of services which might still be required.

This locally co-ordinated approach means the resumption of routine surgery for private patients will occur at different speeds across the country, so it’s important to speak with your insurance provider to understand what this means for you personally. It is likely that in the coming weeks private hospital consultants will begin contacting people directly to arrange the rescheduling of any suspended treatment.

Customers who had appointments or treatments postponed and who do not hear from their hospital consultant directly should get in touch with their private medical insurance provider for details of how this change might affect any treatment that had previously been postponed or to discuss any new claims they may wish to make.

However, if you cannot get the information you need from your insurance provider then we are here to help, so please do not hesitate to call your usual Towergate Health & Protection consultant.
